A bit of philosophy - do you agree with this?

Youth should not seek an easy comfortable path. No one develops in a pampered environment. Youth should instead actively seek out challenges and hardships, transforming them all into valuable assets as they strive to become individuals of outstanding character and ability.

- Daisaku Ikeda

This rang very true to me - I've always believed that obstacles and challenges are what build strength and allow us to grow.

Do I agree with it, hell ya. But do I practice it? That's another story. I try to, but it seems like only when circumstances fall such that a chance seems reasonable do I change my life around drastically.

I have heard that whenever possible, one should never travel in a straight line. Same thing I guess.

True to me also. I practice it, unless it's really not necessary.

Since I am "Youth"/Teenager, I believe we should all get Honda S2000s when we turn 16, have unlimited allowance, and be able to bribe teachers with this allowance.

--------------------------

Actually, I believe that until the depth of philosiphy gets to that equal of Physics and other sciences in study and reduction processes of something, it is just people who can find a fancy way to say something most people know to be true.

Example:

Youth should not seek an easy comfortable path. No one develops in a pampered environment. Youth should instead actively seek out challenges and hardships, transforming them all into valuable assets as they strive to become individuals of outstanding character and ability.

If you mess up, or have to try hard, you get better.

I totally agree. After I got out of the military, I did 10 years of competition judo, and I highly recommend it. It is amazing how struggling and pain on a daily basis can change your outlook on life.

The key is staying with it, until the pain becomes pleasure, and thought is no longer required for action. Then, there is much understanding.

I think it rings true, because it's so rational. Of course people are going to agree with it. Philosophy shouldn't be so easily understandable. IMO, it should touch something inside of you so deep that you first don't get just wtf he's yapping about. Kungfutze (Confucious), and some Laotze, Mencius, that is some mind boggling thinking stuff!

I dig your Bruce Lee pic! That man was a true thinker.

Yeah I suppose it's a bit more inspiration than it is philosophy. There's a lot more where that came from, though

I've known people who constantly seem to have some sort of strife and drama in their life. They don't seem particularly better or happier than other people I know.

It's a good thing to tell yourself when things are bad, though.

In the meantime, I subscribe to my own sort of Dao of Pooh philosophy of living. And it's worked very well for me.
