Default Black Hawk Down

I just saw the movie in Los Angeles this evening. Apparently it is only out in 2 theaters in California and some in New York. The movie was sold out 4-5 hours in advance. The theater was buzzing with anticipation.

All I can say is that on the gory level, it rivals Saving Private Ryan. The reality of war is portrayed very clearly and it's one of the most intense movies I've ever seen. The scale of the movie was very broad, and well filmed. The plot can only become more interesting when you realize there were real soldiers who had to face a relentless enemy.

I was afraid that Bruckheimer and company would screw this wonderful true story up with some hollywood crap, but I guess it turned out to be extremely difficult to mess up such a story of real heroes putting their lives on the line for their brothers.

As far as war/combat films come, this one ranks as one of my favorites. When it opens for wide release in January, I suggest all of you to see it. If you live in NY or LA, get your hands on some tickets!

I'm still having flashbacks of some of the scenes, it's gonna be hard to sleep tonight.

Bruckheimer is infamous for doing this. They toned it down a bit for Pearl Harbor this past summer. Hope this one goes even further as you have said. Too much hollywood = crap!

Looking forward to seeing this movie. I know the guy who was the medical platoon leader which treated all the casulties (in the real-life conflict).

A non-Hollywood film, Amazing shot/action sequences that keep your eyes glued to the screen. One of the few movies of the year that left a lasting impression on me.
