trying to solve a problem:

5 car drivers: american, british, german, italian, japanese
cars: honda, bmw, alfa, triumph, dodge
cars numbered 1 to 5

place them in order first to last, what car each driver was driving, what was the cars number. do it for each driver

clue:
1. drivers did not drive cars made in their country
2. honda finished after alfa
3. the italian won the race
4. car 3 did not finish in 1st or 2nd.
5. cars did not finish in place corresponding to its number
6. alfa's driver is older than car 3's driver
7. driver that placed 4th is not american
8. dodge finished last
9. car 2's driver is older than american but younger than bmw
10. car 4 is not driven by the american
11. british driver beat the alfa, the dodge, and car 1

Looks like we arrived at the same guess.

 

That's what I got:

1. Triumph- Italian- #2
2. BMW- British- #4
3. Alfa- American- # 5
4. Honda- German- #1
5 Dodge- Japanese- #3

 

Same with what i got as well - writing it down on a peice of paper.

It seems like after getting First and Second place it was easy to figure out the last three drivers

 

i got the same but I couldnt for the life of me figure out the car numbers.

 

Try figuring out first what number they cant be. Then go from there. Read carefully, and write down what each line is saying. Hope that helps.
