Hey guys I'm trying to figure out this brain teaser for a class im taking. I got most of it already but I just want to confirm the answer

Can't be right if all letters have unique value because L and R are both 8 in yours. Also, it can't be a completely unique value for each letter because L + R can't equal R unless L is 0 and T is already 0 according to this little list we've been given so far...

If we're given that T = 0 then D = 5.

1 + L + R = R, so L = 9. (We carry the 1 from 5 + 5 = 10.)

However, we also have either O + E = O, making E = 0, or 1 + O + E = O, making E = 9. Both are impossible.

Either T is not 0 or else this has no solution.

oh whoops, i did this using gerald, not gerard. in which case that would work...but nevermind, ha.

That's what I'm saying.

I can't imagine they'd give you a problem this quirky and then not have it be solveable. Are we positive that T = 0, supplied with the original problem?
