My pop is Italian and has Italian TV broadcast here via satelite. He said that in Italy 45,000 people gathered around the US Embassy chanting "We are with you".

It warms the heart a little.

I have always said that England is the greatest ally the US has and probably ever will. We would lay down on the tracks for each other. I am not a religious man, but bless you and the support of your country. We will always stand together and with that are certainly unbeatable.

If there is a god, not even he/she can protect those responsible.

I am a little late getting to this thread...

I know that some of the things I say on this board can seem to be anti-American, though they are usually said in jest, but believe me, I am 100% behind you and believe that the UK should be 100% behind you in taking action against those who carried out this attack.

My thoughts are with the poeple who died and those who lost loved ones....

Let's not forget this is also an attack against the free world. US allies have been attacked as well. Australia has lost citizens in this attack and no doubt many other countries have as well.

Also a bit late coming to this one, they asked us not to bung up communications networks yesterday GMT.

Can I also extend our full sympathy and support to all those directly, and the millions indirectly affected by this. This was not an attack on the US, it was an attack on all of us of normal morals and usual aspriations.

What you do with perpetrators with such corrupted minds and worthless lives is, frankly beyond me.

Yes, a very shocking experience for all nations. I can't get over how I feel today - this event us has rocked us all to the core of our existence. Here in Australia we also extend our sympathies and share in your grief.

I have been unable to function -today others at work are sitting in front of the television (which most companies have set up for their staff to view) totally stunned.

I will never forget this day but please folks lets think about what we can do to help rather than talk about recriminations - let's try and understand what has happened and why. As many have said - this is the risk and price we pay for our freedom. I would much rather have this freedom (along with its attendant risks) than live in a society where security becomes the be all and end all of our existence.

On the way to work this morning, I heard that we are getting support from almost every country, even some that we consider enemies. I don't doubt it though because it could just as easily happen to anyone else if it happened to us and it was the most cowardly act of terrorism ever.

I agree with everyone here and we appreciate the support of all of the others around the world who have offered kind words and prayers. However, I think that this is something that should be handled by the US not the UN. We are the most powerful nation in the world (at least from a military standpoint) and it's time for us to set some ground rules and flex some military might. We don't need anyone's help to handle this situation. I think we have allowed stuff like this to go on for far too long and it's time to put an end to it. I think it's time that we make an example for the world to see. We will not tolerate these type of actions on American soil.
