Default Budgeting Software

Afternoon!

So I'm wanting to do some budgeting and forecasting of income, account balances, etc, and would love if there were a free application for this.

Basically what I'd like to do is tell it how much I have in each of my accounts, how much pay will go in on which dates, how much I'll pay on which dates for bills, and pretty much be able to jump ahead to any future date and see where each of the account will be with the planned transactions.

Seems pretty simple to me, any suggestions? I could probably make a spreadsheet for this but almost picture it as looking like a calendar where when I click on any date it'll show the account balances based on transactions that will take place before the chosen date.

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Quickbooks, great software. You won't find anything as good for free.

mint.com. It's online and it's free. It will automatically link up to your bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, etc and download transactions and it will even do a fairly decent job at categorizing them.

They make their money based on lead generation. It's completely optional. I guess I don't really care if they use my data, the service I get in return is benefiting me in a huge way!

Thanks for all the tips! I've checked out a few and it doesn't look like Mint is available in Canada. But there are a couple of equivalents I'm looking at.

Quickbooks is definitely on the possibility list, as is Excel, since it's pretty basic math I'm looking at - I was just hoping for a GUI.
