I agree, samlee's sites are awesome. All the sites people have linked here are cool and show imagination. Check out thunderchicken, IronHondaS2000 and geekd (the first link is NSFW) sites too.

My rules:
1) When I hit a site with a Flash intro I skip the site.
2) When someone tells me I need browser xxx version yyy I skip the site.
3) I block cookies whenever I possibly can, especially when the site has no user interaction that could possibly justify the need for a cookie.
4) I block ActiveX except for specific work-related applications.
