All U.S. Marines are hold for another 12 months. I was all set to get out of this gunclub in 4 months.

Semper Fidelis (We do what they tell us!)

Happened to me too (back in the day). Extended for 18 months & did 2 cruises (Med. cruises on the Guam and Inchon). It's just one of those good deals that comes from being a Marine.

If you need motivation to go kick some ass, Michael Horrocks was a Marine. As you might recall Michael was the co-pilot on UAL flight 93 who was murdered on 9-11-01 above south east PA.

I didn't know Michael while in the Corps, but did know him at UAL, simply said, he was a good shit. I'd trade places with you in heartbeat if it meant a shot at revenge. In the meantime, former Marines around the world are looking to you to make us proud.

I am ready and willing, I am just frustrated that I spent the last couple months making preparations to get out.

Good luck. I had to reread your location since I almost asked what a marine was doing stationed in Pittsburgh.

My wife's niece's husband, my good friend, is Command Master Chief on the Mobile Bay, an Aegis missile-firing heavy cruiser out of san Diego, deployed with the Abraham Lincoln battle group. They were on their way back from a 6-month tour in the Gulf, due to port in Pearl Harbor today. I was going to fly to Hawaii and come back to San Diego with them. They got turned around in Australia and are headed back to the Gulf.

My buddy Geoff, a CPO weapons technician, is at sea right now on the HMCS Calgary, which I think is either on maritime patrol or middle east operations. He's been out there for 2 months out of the required 6 on his tour of duty.

For those that are interested, the HMCS Calgary is a Halifax-class multi-role attack frigate, with helicopter transport capabilities. It has anti-submarine, anti-surface, anti-sea surface, anti-air capabilities, and can function in S-a-D, support, rescue, and medical roles.

For comparison, the Halifax-Class is about the same size and role as the Oliver Hazard Perry Class of the US Navy

This is the HMCS Calgary
