That's pretty funny. I didn't know you could write FORD in chinese characters. What's the literal translation of that?? Check it out, he's got Tweety and Taz in the car too. Must be the limited edition Warner Bros. car.

no, unlike Japanese where you can use Katakana and represent foreign sounds, Chinese have to use "similar" sounding characters that have no meaning when put together, so if a set of characters makes absolutely no sense, it's probably a foreign sound. of course, when a company like GE actually has a meaning behind its name, it's easier to translate into Chinese.

for example: "come on, let's go!" were pronounced (when you put it in Chinese characters and literally translate it back) "fast horse, pull dead dog" those of you who speaks mandarin Chinese, just translate it word by word and you'll see what i mean.

LOL

OK, so you guys put the chinese charaters that sound like FORD together, even though it doesn't make any sense. So, what would the translation of FORD be in this case??

Love it! And he probably thinks he's so cool. Have images of him going up Grant St. and the locals pointing and laughing.

Yea, I know exactly what you mean.

My mom always writes things in Korean but they're not ACTUAL Korean words, just pronunciations that sound like English words.
