A/C question for homeowners
OK...so it feels/seems like our A/C is going out!!! This is a good thing, we still have our homeowners insurance!
Has anyone put a temp gauge to their A/C vents? what does the normal one run at? I had a good friend bring over a wind/temp gauge and at our house it was registering 74.5, at his house it was in the upper 50's/lower 60's on his A/C...
Is there standards? Any help would be great! What temp should the air coming out of our A/C be?
I hope our homeowners insurance will pay for a new A/C

50-60 degree air sounds right. 74 degrees is high. i'm with Ckit though, i dont know about insurance covering a new AC unit. if your AC unit blew up maybe, but crapping out...i think you'll be paying out of pocket. my father-in-law just spent $6k for a new AC/Heating unit. it wasnt covered by anything.

From folks that I work with in HVAC the rule of thumb is that duct temp should be 15 - 20 degrees lower than room temp
