C230 Kompressor Coupe
I'm considering a s2000 as my next car, but today i saw a c230 coupe and i remembered they cost like $27k... so i priced it out with leather, bose, and navigation (a must for me) and it came out to $30k and change... hmm, intriguing.. i know it's a totally different car from the s2k, but now i have another car to consider..
what's your opinion on the c230? it looked pretty nice.. are they made in the u.s. or in germany?

Do they still have C230 kompressor for sale? I thought the newer model only came in C240, C320 and C32 guise.
I for one would never consider base model Mercedes or BMW though. They are rather expensive compare to their closest competition, the Audi A4. My pick would be Audi A4 frontrak with CVT or Quattro with manual 5-speed.
As for navigation system, I think that aftermarket system from Alpine is at least equivalent or superior to any factory system offered. And for the same price aftermarket units have more features.

They are made in Germany. As for opinions...you are asking a picky bunch. IMO...I don't like them...not enough power, heavy, automatic are just a few reasons. If you want a comfortable car to cruise around in that just happens to be a convertable, the SLK is probably worth a look.
i also considered the c230 before i bought my s2000. the price is nice, but the performance numbers are pathetic. if you like MB name, its your least expensive ticket for admission. i wouldnt consider it if you want a true performance car though.

If you do test drive it, check out the Panorama sunroof. Sounds nice. Not quite a convertible, but sounds like it'll give a much better open-air feeling than a typical moonroof. And, of course, a lot more practicality than a roadster.
From all I've read, the engine sounds gruff and the 6-speed is substandard in feel. The interior is also more "stylish" than Mercedes classic. Not quite as high-buck in look.
Personally, I like the exterior. But I'm one of the few that liked the 318ti too.

. Don't like Germany that much either, and I'm still troubled that most of these German auto manufacturers were way too friendly with the Nazis. Just my opinion.
