California nearly bankrupt
I've always disliked how cities use up all the money given to them by the government even if they don't need it so they won't receive less funds the year after. For instance, Irvine streets are very smooth, but for some reason, there's always perfectly fine roads being fixed, expanded, moved, or redrawn.
Im baffled as to how were in this situatino to start with... every single damn midwesterner and texan in the country is migrating out here and not to mention, all of our taxes are pretty high.
WTF are all those tax dollars goin to?

So the state of CA is bankrupt and the U.S. is something like $3Trillion on debt. Both are run by Republicans. Hmm...

And the actual spending bills are passed by the legislative branches, controlled in both cases by which party? Hmm......?
And the US is debt is FAR beyond $3 trillion.

Ha, nice try. California is one of the more liberal states in the US. The debt is around $10.6 T has been around since the 30's and has increased under Republican and Democrat President's alike. As well as Republican and Democrat controlled congresses. In fact, the largest increases have come in the last two years under a Democrat congress... Both parties fail.
It's an American ideology change fail. Our country went from save and spend to spend now pay later.
The revenue base fell out from underneath itself.
Economy goes into the shitter + homes foreclose = (lack of sales tax + lack of income tax) + lack of property tax
The only gaffe, if it is such, is that NOBODY on either side of the aisle thought to pocket some money when we were flush with revenue. Even then, prior spending restraints mandated that the money be spent.
Google accounted (and may still) for a full 1% of California's GSP 2-3 years ago, and thusly made up a huge chunk of tax revenue. Private-industry logic would dictate that's a fair amount of exposure, but there ain't shit you can do about it if it's taxation.
Gov. Schwarzenegger is huffing paint by trying to mandate a rainy-day fund now.
Politically, the issue is that nobody on the Assembly floor likes Gov. Schwarzenegger. Too conservative for the Dems, and too liberal for the GOP.
In the last two months, I've seen some amazing shit: Les Claypool's New Year's Even Show, Barack Obama becoming the new President of the United States, and Democrats willing to make budget cuts along with some Republicans agreeing to higher fees and taxes. . .
. . . guess what happened to the last two things? Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed the budget proposals. . . budget proposals that required 2/3rds passage.
1. Get rid of Schwarzenegger.
2. Get rid of the 2/3rds passage rule on the budget.
