Default calling all electricians/electrical engineers. home wiring ?

Anybody good with light fixture questions? I have overhead ceiling boxes wired to one switch. Two of the fixtures are above a bar and will have hanging halogens that are fairly high wattage. My question is does the third fixture have to be a halogen of the same wattage or can I put any wattage fixture in without problems.

I don't know how this stuff works well enough but it kind of seems like the halogens would want to "pull" high wattage and then "force" it though the third fixture and blow lower wattage bulbs. Sounds dumb I know, but I took accounting.

Thanks for any help.

You can mix and match anything you want, but you shouldn't exceed 1800 watts on one circuit.

True - with the exception of mixing CFL's on the same circuit as high wattage halogen lamps as it will reduce the life of the CFL. Plus you can not put a CFL on any circuit with a dimmer switch.

Also - I would use a cap of 1200 watts on any house with wiring over 20 years old. 1800 watts is pushing the limit on a 15 amp circuit.

My brother bought "dimmable CFL" floodlights for this very purpose in his home theater room. He says they have full illumination, a noticable hair less bright than that, and off when you use the dimmer. He paid like $20 a piece for 6 worthless lights.

White man gets the silver, black man gets the gold. That's how they taught me.

just swap out to 20 amp breakers, then you work have to worrk about the breakers tripping.
