I have had a FujiFilm MX-2900 for almost 2 years, it's a 2.3 megapixel that uses Smart Media...it's a solid very durable camera and I have never had a single problem with it. It's reminiscent of an SLR camera in how it looks and feels...I love it and it takes terrific pictures.
If you get a camera that uses Smart Media, make sure to get the SanDisk smart media USB reader. Any camera that connects to your PC via a serial port is going to take forever to download pics. This device connects and it becomes a 'removable' drive...open Explorer and there your pictures are. This thing is essential, IMO.

I have a Ricoh RDC-7.
It's small, has 3.3 meg with 7meg using software, a flip up
rotating screen, uses smartmedia, it can also take avi movies and it comes with a lithium ion battery and charger.

Olympus D460 - I bought it because it looks almost identical to my 35mm Olympus and my wife could use it immediately. It love the quality of the pics and the ease of transferring to the pc using a photoreader.

I use two, the first I've had for a year and a half, it's a Nikon Coolpix 950. Very versitile, 2.1 mil pix. all the bells and whistles and I love the swivel design, it helps you frame your pictures so much better. My second camera is an Olympus C-2100, I got this mostly for the lens. It has a 10x optical zoom which is awsome. I do a lot of wildlife photography so thats why I wanted the zoom, but I personally think the Nikon takes better pictures.
