Default can banks track cashiers check?

not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods can move this thread if u need to .at the moment a s2ki member is trying to fraud me out of $400. i paid for a cusco 4pt roll bar with a cashiers check from my bank. its been over 2months and still nothing. i am just curious what kind of action i could take...can banks track their cashiers check? if so i might file a complaint with my bank, but from what i thought a cashiers check was like a money order. but if the bank creates it cant they track as well. anyways im tired of dealing with this member and need to do something. any advice would be helpful.

here is his for sale thread.
for sale thread

thx-

you can check if it's been cashed. i'm not sure if you can tell where it's been cashed.

i had the same hassle with a set of rims that i paid via cashier's check. i couldn't get in touch with the seller multiple days after sending the cashier's check. luckily i sent the check confirmed mail so they had to sign for it. luckily i found out it hadn't been cashed already and was able to cancel it.

good luck.

sounds like the seller is in the NYC area? if so, see if NFRs2000NYC can provide assistance. the NY folks don't like scammers

hmm, i work at wellsfargo and yes we can check if the check has been cashed. also we can generate an image of the check and sometimes there is an account number on the back of the check. its a long process to file for fraud or reclaim the amount paid for the cashiers check.

i leared the hard way, not to send cashiers check anymore. its a lot harder to get the money back once its been cashed. it was only 9 bucks so whatevers.

good luck.

I work at wachovia, and yes you can see if it has been cashed... go to your bank and give them the print reciept.
