Default Can someone explain Four Cams

I think I understand what an overhead cam is. Even a Double overhead cam. But when I was looking at the specs for the Lexus SC430 that my father is buying I cam to this section on the engine specs:

ENGINE
Designation 3UZ-FE
Type Four Cam, 32 valve V8 with VVT-i
Displacement 4.3 liter, 4,293cc (261 cu. in.)
Bore x Stroke (mm / in.) 91.0 mm x 82.5 mm/3.58 in. x 3.25 in.
Compression Ratio 10.5:1
Horsepower (SAE) 300 hp @ 5,600 rpm
Torque (SAE) 325 ft-lbs @ 3,400 rpm
This information was taken from Toyota's press release website

My question is what is meant by Four Cam

Anyone know?

Tom

I would read that as dual overhead cams...which in a V8 would mean four cams.

As a guess: two camshafts for each bank of cylinders, one intake and one exhaust. Hence, four camshafts in toto.

V8 = two banks of four cylinders = two cams per bank = four cams

2 cams on each cylinder bank of the V-8, one for the intake and one for the exhaust. Think of a double overhead cam inline 4.......now double it.

not only V-8 with DOHC are four-CAM.

so is any V-shape of Engines (V4?, V6, V12, V16) and boxer engines (F4, F6, F12) have total of Four-Cam when they are DOHC.

...then wouldn't "quadruple overhead cam" mean the facial moneyshot in a gangbang?
