search "internet explorer wallpaper.bmp"
make a copy of it, paste it onto desktop or any folder that is easy to access,
then open it with... acdsee or photoshop or something.
acdsee has "convert" feature that you can change bmp to jpg to gif... etc.
photoshop, you can save picture file into any type you want.

if the file is not "internet explorer wallpaper.bmp", right click on desktop,
on drop- down menu, click active desktop-> customize desktop-> background...
then you will see the file name that is used for background picture.
search that file under search menu, then do what i explained above.

You can do ctrl and print screen, then go into an image program and copy it, but it will take your desktop icons along with it.

thats easy, IE has some bugs that it reads/saves files incorrectly...
what you do is
Right Click
Then in the box where it prompts you to name it put:
picturename.JPG
boom your problem is solved!

adding the the .JPG will change the extension around for that file.

Remember you are typing .JPG after your picture name, not using the pull down menu to pick what format you wish to save.
