can you baffle a small microphone from wind?
I have an canon S80 that I use for taking pictures and i want to use it for my track camera and when I do footage on the road. However, if the camera is mounted outside of the car, I pick up horrible wind noise.
The little hole to the top left of the shutter button is the mic:

Last track day I tried putting some rolled up cloth over it and cover it with electrical tape but the noise still goes through. Any ideas? unfortunately, there isn't a place for an external microphone. I'm really just after engine noise and not much else so clarity isn't a huge issue.

Without a external mic it will be hard, but you can fabricate a popper stopper (that is the correct term) to be taped on the camera covering the microphone. I would recommend one from the cell phone headset because of thier size.
I doubt it would work well at speeds over 20-30 mph but it might help out a little.

like nine said, the only way it would work is if you had an external mic, even if you put a wind blocker its still going to get alot of noise. you can try putting a sponge or something over it but it may only help a little.
I haven't tried it myself, but I understand cellophane tape works well for what you need. It prevents buffeting due to the mic opening. However, there's still plenty of buffeting from other sources so YMMV.
