Default Canon 20D - eBay or store?

I want to get a Canon 20D. There's a store next to me that has it in stock, brand new for $1599 with the EF-S lens (kit).

Or do I wait and find one on eBay and get more for my $?

Depending on how much you would save, I would say save yourself the hassle of eBay and the waiting period, and get it tomorrow at the local store. If it's only a few hundred difference, go local and get the warranty.

For expensive consumer electronics I'd get it from a physical store. If there is a problem you have somewhere to take it for return or warranty work. Additionally at around 1000 dollars is a great place where the scammers do their magic.

I would not use ebay for this.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Thanks.

You can order from a site as long as they are good. Check out http://www.resellerratings.com/ for online-store reviews.

On a side note, be careful when ordering online. There might be times when ordering from the store with the lowest price will require you to call into the store to confirm your order. They will try to sell you addtional accessories to make more money. On top of that comes the worst part, they may start saying misleading things such as "Do you want the one from Malaysia or Japan? The one from Japan is $20 more due to better built quality." The truth is, there is no different camera of the model, all are the same. This scam is common with buying lenses also, some places will often ask "Do you want the plastic mount, or the steel mount? Steel mount will cost $25 more..." when in fact there is most likely no such thing as plastic mounts for the lens.

Oh well, I'm just giving a heads up. I have the Digital Rebel, and I love it, I'm hoping the metering on the 20D's' are much much better as it's the only complaint I have with my Rebel.

Just make sure they are an authorzied retailer (ebay, internet, or local store). I bought the Digital EOS Rebel and it crapped out on me after 1 week of use. I had to send it in for repairs (bios problems) and luckily it was covered under warranty. You don't want to spend $1000+ on a camera and wonder if you are going to have to pay to get it fixed after a week.
