Default Canon 30D DSLR Little Brother?

Hey guys and gals,

I have always wanted to get a Digitial SLR but financially i was never ready for one. Now i am about to pull the trigger on a Rebel XT but i feel something is comming, something better... When the 10D was out, it had a little brother, the 300D. When the 20D came out, its little brother was the Rebel XT(350D), now the 30D has been released, but no little brother at the moment. I really dont want to pull the trigger on my purchase because i feel that something will come out, as in the past. You guys know if anything will come out?

Thanks,
Tony Yeung

I think its more of an upgraded 20D. I belive the image processors and sensors are the same. Heres a comparison between the 20D and 30D: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos30d/

buying a digi slr camera is like buying a computer. no matter what you buy today, it will be replaced by something "better" in the near future. you just have to make the decision to buy it and not look back. besides, the rebel xt has more features than an amateur photographer needs. also, with an SLR, the real expense and more important purchase is in the lenses, and not so much the camera itself. trust me, once you get into SLR photography, you'll find out that you're gonna be spending 3-4 times as much on lenses and accessories, than in the camera itself.

Yeah, the 30D is more like an upgraded 20D. And, the Rebel is still a fine camera. You can save yourself a few hundred by purchasing a 20D when the 30D becomes more readily available. Save a few hundred more by buying a gently-used 20D/XT.

Or, if you are a patient but risk-taking person, take a look at this: thread. Somewhere on page 3 or so contains explicit directions for procuring the 20D at a stupidly cheap price.
