Default Can't sync my iPod anymore

Well, I dowloaded the newest version of iTunes a few weeks ago, and now I can't sync my iPod. . . dammit.

I'm not sure if it's due to the fact that I downloaded the new software, or if there's another reason (like getting 18 gigs of music from my friend).

Basically, when I use the USB connector to connect my iPod to my PC I get the "Do not disconnect" message, but it never goes away. iTunes doesn't launch, and when I open iTunes, it doesn't find my iPod. Argh, this is annoying.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

[QUOTE=happs22,Dec 4 2004, 09:42 PM] All of my songs are on the iPod only, which is why I don't want to have to reformat. . . I'm trying to find my original iPod install disc so I can reinstall iTunes.

The exact same thing happened to me. Do you need iTunes? If not, uninstall iTunes from Add/Remove Programs and see if that does the trick. It took me awhile, but I determined that in my case, iTunes was causing the problem.

what iPod do you have? 20GB? did you just rip all of the CDs onto your computer, make your playlists on iTunes, and then delete the song afterwards? or are all 18gb of music off your friend's computer?
Yeah, 20GB iPod. I got about 16 gigs from a friend of mine. He spent the last few weeks ripping CDs (I was too lazy and he wasn't working at the time). My laptop only has about 13 gigs of HD space left (time for work to buy me a new computer).

Basically, I want to get the iPod to sync so I can install iTrip.

I just found the original install disc. I think I'll try the uninstall/reinstall option.

I had that problem with my first 2 iPods, it sucks. I ended up just going and getting a new one, probably not the most economical plan though, but for me it was the easiest

Well, that seemed to work. . . sort of (I did a "repair" through uninstall programs). At least the computer recognizes the iPod now. Still, I can't seem to get much else to work - it just keeps blinking, "Do not disconnect" at me, but won't let me eject the device.

OK, I'm going to just try and do a complete reinstallation. This is driving me nuts.

Music go bye bye.

OK, now I'm pissed. All of my music was deleted when I reconfigured my iPod while reinstalling iTunes. On top of that, stil not sync'ing properly. Note to self - GO TO BED NOW BEFORE SMASHING PC AND iPOD.
