Don't GTOs have a reputation for their tendency for catching on fire? Maybe the car was gong to catch on fire the next time you drove it, and the thieves just got a nasty surprise. Talk about anti-theft device...

Well it does suck that your car met such an awful end, but there's a huge part of me that would NOT want my car back after it's been stolen. Partly because you don't know if they beat the piss out of it and partly because it would probably creep me out knowing that some total stranger invaded my personal space.

Sorry to hear man. I had a car ('95 GS-R) stolen and it's one of the worst feelings in the world. As if it wasn't enough, State Farm stalled and stalled with me on paying. It felt like getting screwed over twice. Hope your insurance handles better than mine did.
