Default Cat owners: Baby and Cats don't mix?

I've been considering a cat for a pet, but a friend of mine who owns 2 cats said that they may not be the best thing to have around babies. Can anyone add to that comment as to why?

1. Cats poo is toxic. Baby's Immune is weak at early ages.
Could make the baby sick.

2. Allergies to the baby.

The above statements are only hear-say and not 100% fact

Get a dog, LABADOR, they are GREAT with kids. IF you need anything in relations with animals let me know. I am right around your corner.

If you have had a cat for many years... the pet becomes territorial and will attempt occasionally to stake its claim on her possesions... if and only if the baby acts in a threatening matter. So if you have a 3 year old house cat... and the baby is crawling around and tries to grab its tail... then of course... the cat may react. (but that's why you get it de-clawed as well)

If you are attempting to get a kitten... the kitten is absorbing and trying to find its own niche in your surroundings simultaneously as the kid... often they tend to "bond" to one another if the baby does not physically hurt the kitten in any way. Cat's can be trained to certain extant...

(I have two... and the things are like dam dogs... even the utmost cat haters love the things... its all in the type of attention they get)

oh... and I at least hope you do not live in a one room shack... wher the cat litter is openly accessible to the baby... sittin' right in the kitchen!! (otherwise... you should not have any problem with "toxic cat poo!" )
