While it takes some time each airline now keeps and guarantees the best pricing on their web sites.

I've found orbitz.com the easiest to use when looking for tickets, and then I go and buy them at the airline sites and avoid the orbitz fees.

with orbitz you can select to search a day before and after your outgoing and return, to see if those are cheaper. Or try priceline and bid on them, if you are flexible.

I use travelocity and sidestep, but it's always worth checking the airlines' websites too.

offtopic: I use priceline mostly for hotels, you can great deals on a hotel in a specific area on specific dates...you just pick a star rating of hotel you want and what you want to pay...end up typically getting like half the regular rates!

ontopic: I check out sites like orbitz, expedia, travelociity first and then check out the airlines to see if those flights are available on the airlines' website as well...you avoid the service charge by directly going through the airline themselves...

I like travelocity....there serach options and flight options are

My eye doctor also just put me on to new site called www.gotoday.com I havent used it yet, but she has used it a couple of times. She got a trip to Ireland $750 included air, hotel, and a rental car for 6 days. It was actually cheaper to buy the package then it was for her to get a plane ticket at the time. They have some really good deals! Knowing that shes used them a few times, Im definately gonna try it out next time a take a vacation.

Another decent site is http://www.hotfares.com/

But honestly, I don't think there's one single best source. I fly fairly frequently and usually search a bunch of places to see what's best.
