Default Chicago Residents - please help

Very off-topic - I understand if it gets moved.

Just found out I'm moving to Chicago area (job) on September 1st. Picked this area over New York for many reasons, including having a better chance to live in a suburb somewhere with a garage for the S!!

I know several of you live in the area (G. Stevens - perhaps the most famous) - what suburbs would you recommend/not recommend, and is it true the public transportation reaches to most of the close suburbs and is a reliable and safe way to commute to work?

Please e:mail me for details. I work downtown and live close enough to the train that the S only gets out when it's nice.

I'd also be glad to share info about the N. and farNW suburbs. Do you know exactly in what town your job is located? And of course your housing budget $$ and size requirements will have a factor in which suburbs you might want to check out.

Don't cave in for the ease of the suburban living!!! Plenty of options here in the big gritty city for stook storage & alot more fun Of course that's just my preference- I grew up in a pretty snotty suburb and couldn't wait to get to out!

If your considering living in the city PM me, but if it's gatta be the suburbs- my vote is for Evanston. Lotsa diversity, pretty bohemian with all the Northwestern students, on Lake Mighican, easy public transportation into the city, great architecture... the list goes on.
