Default Chinese buffets

A friend of mine and I were talking today at work about chinese food. Then a Chinese guy walk in and hears us talking about orange chicken and he says" I can't believe you guys eat that crap"..... meaning chinese buffets. So we asked why and he says: " You know when you see the employees on break? You ever notice they aren't EVER eating the food from the buffet?"

I said um, yeah. Then I started to wonder if he was onto something. I asked if he had the inside scoop but he just smiled and left.

So is the food really that bad or do they just not eat off of the buffet because it's not proper or something.

Until I get a satisfactory answer, I'm never eating at a Chinese buffet again.

Any loose dogs in the neighborhood? Then it's safe to eat

If you work there, don't you think you'd get sick of eating the same food all the time?

I'm going to play the "yes-I'm-a-white-guy-living-in-the-Bay-Area-card;" If there aren't middle-class Asians in the place, then don't eat there.

that's a very good rule of thumb...

my friend is a delivery boy at this chinese restaurant that seems to "americanize"all their food. for example, their mar far chicken is more like fried chicken. their kung pao is in this really bland sauce, hardly any peanuts and not spicy at all. my favorite place to eat in town is this place called maple garden which he insists is disgusting, but i insist is authentic... we argue about it alot.

the other day i pointed out to him that the best judge of good chinese food would obviously be a chinese person. and then i pointed out that the only people who eat at his restaurant are fat white people... and most the people who eat at my restaurant are all the asian students that go to the university. i win.
