Sorry, but you're an idiot.
Faux accents are as bad as stage props. If you think it is funny, then more power to you and carrot top. Basically, if you can do your act without the accents, then you may have something. It is a cheap crutch for people who aren't really that funny.

I am sure he has other material that is better, and I welcome people to post it. But the material presented was idiotic at best. Sometimes idiotic works and is funny for some people.

I think he is the waiter from Along Came Polly, but not sure. He did a pretty good job there with what he had to work with.

Overall his timing and non-sequiturs are fair.

Same thing, different culture.

At least he is wearing pants that fit this time (but what is up with the dress/jacket).

Now you got me interested. Here is more of his crap. He flops the first couple of jokes on the intro, then switches to his racial act. Watch him get bood the first time at about 7:30 in the video. You can also here some girls talking loudly at that point (not sure what about). It takes him until about 8:00 to actually try a weak comeback (after he was talking about something else) after more booing.

I am not sure what he is doing at 22:40? Looking for material? He is trying too desparately there. Flops on the first guy, tries again, flops, then has to try with another guy...pathetic if you ask me. Same faux accent (his bread and butter).

what on earth do you find funny then? just a question.

His "faux" accents aren't all "faux" however. After all he is Indian so his indian accent is real. His other accents aren't just a gag. It's part of the joke. It's not really his accents that ARE the joke, just part of it. His material and what he says is what is funny. The accents just add to the humor. To be honest his accents aren't really that over exaggerated either. Not like when black comics over exaggerate white peoples' speech, or visa versa.

Just about every great comic has a "gag". Something to add to the jokes. They aren't just people up there giving punch line after punch line.

Like i said, please let me know who you find hilarious. I'm truly curious. I'm guessing you have a pretty dry sense of humor (not a crack on you, just guessing here).

I have to admit, once you get past some of the tasteless humor, this guy grows on you.

Non-sequiturs and comic timing.

I understand what you are saying. I agree that accents add to the act. But that is all this guy has. Watch his other videos. They are all basically the same thing.

There are plenty of funny comics out there who don't have to rely on crutches like accents.

But I did think some parts in my last link were funny, even though he was bood a lot (his timing was good at about 54:20). I think if he did impressions (of famous people) he would have a pretty good act.
I hear you. And thanks for posting that link, i haven't seen that one. I thought it was funny. I guess it helps to have a friend who is brown (pakistani). I can relate to a lot of what he says about indian/brown people because i'm around my friend's family a lot. My friend makes jokes about the culture as well so to hear a lot of these stereotypes put into comedic format is funny to me. Also, the link you posted is obviously a small comedy club setting. Comics use shows like this to hone their routines and experiment with jokes. I was able to see MANY well known comedians while i was in college. I worked backstage for all the entertainment shows. Many of these comedians flopped on some of their jokes in this setting. But then you see their hbo/comedy central tv specials and just about every joke is a hit. This is because they tour these small venues working on their jokes and bits. Find out what's funny with what audience. The demographics of the audience plays a big part with their routine as well.

I do agree that Russel doesn't have the comedic genius as some of the more well known (and even some no names i've seen in local comedy clubs), but he can be damn funny too.

senses of humor are different from person to person. I'm not trying to get you to change your opinion of this comedian. I was honestly just curious to find what you, and a few others who didn't find russel funny, thought was funny. I'm a big comedy nut and go to the comedy clubs often, so if you know of any obscure comics that i could check out that'd be great.

thanks and keep laughin!!
