I'm Catholic and being members of our local parish we have our own little money envelopes that we bring to church every sunday.

The church says 10% of your salary is recommended

I'm somewhat of a spiritual guy but charity begins at home.

So my question to you is
How much do you donate every sunday?

 

ZERO. But then I am an Atheist!

 

The Latter Day Saints (Mormon, if you will) always paid a 10% "tithing" (I think that's what they called it).

Why do you think the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is like the second most wealthy religious organization in the world? Eventhough the Pope, the Vicar of Christ only recognizes the Latter Day Saints as a "sect".

Of course now being a Buddhist, we have to pay A LOT more at our local Chinese Buddhist temples. How did you think Al Gore got his freakin' money at the Hsi Lai Temple?!!!!! The Temple even takes CREDIT CARDS for donations!!!!!!

IMHO: If your church is not doing things for your family, community and fellow church goers that you feel is worth 10% of your salary. Find a new church.

Bottom line. If you do not trust your church to wisely spend 10% of your salery, find a new church.

 

You should only give what you're comfortable with.
