Class Action lawsuit letters
Recently, I've been getting a few letters asking me if I would like to join in on a class action lawsuit. Usually, the plaintiff is some random person and the defendant is a company that I've held common stock shares in.
How do these work? If I opt to join, will I also be responsible for litigation fees if the plaintiff loses? Or, do i just join in with the possiblility of sharing in the settlement??

You don't have to pay anything, you essentialy just get added to a list. After the lawyers take their 50% cut of the winnings, the last half is split between the thousands of people who signed up and offered as a coupon for a free pretzel.
