maybe God gave you a 2nd chance to life!
yeah...dolphin dorsal fins seems more rounded at the top to me from what I have seen in Newport and Huntington when I am surfing/body boarding. I think its a shark too...i would definitly sh*t my wetsuit if I saw that right next to me.

very sorry to disappoint all of you, but that is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, a dolphin. SoFlaNSX, you might need to re-check with your marine bio buddies, because I think you're not quite right here, by about 100%.
see the dorsal fin? find me a shark with a fin that matches that perfectly with the two images.

also, and here's the final proof. the tail fin of a shark is vertical, whereas on a dolphin, it is horizonal (c'mon SoFlaNSX marine bio dude-- you shoulda pointed that out!). take a close look at the pic. it is horizontal. (the dolphin is angled towards the camera, that is, his dorsal fin is pointing towards the shore)

Tritium, read my post...when I said "You'd assume its a dolphin because of the fin" i was referring to its tail fin...it looks like it could be either horizontal or vertical.
It is not 100% that it is a dolphin. As mentioned:
Dolphin travel in pods...I see no other dolphin anywhere in that picture. Dolphin do not hang out in the surf (as sharks very very often do). Atlantic Bottle Nose dolphin are one of the biggest species of dolphin there is and they very very rarely get to be more than 7 or 8 feet long...and even 7 or 8 feet is quite a big dolphin. That "thing" (shark) is easily coming up on 12 feet.
Also, notice the DRASTIC hook on the end of the dorsal of the pictures you posted...you don't see that drastic of a hook at all on this fish...and the fin isn't as "aerodynamic"...much more upright.
And lastly, the upper region of the "thing" (shark) is way too pointed to be a dolphin.
And lastly, from personal experience, I have seen more sharks than I can count hanging in waves at Sebastian Inlet, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, and even some down here in South Florida (just sittin on the shore)...yet, I've not once seen a dolphin hanging around inside a wave like that...
...It's a shark.
