Club attire?
Pick up baseball bat. Measure distance to tire...
No, really. What are people wearing to clubs these days? I've seen t-shirts and jeans, I've seen (well, mostly just on TV) the, umm, I don't know how to describe it. No offense, but weird stuff.
I've usually gone with black slacks and some sort of shirt. *shrug* No big deal.
I recently purchased a simple three-button black suit, shiny black silk tie, and this neat-o vest. I'm trying to do something classy, a bit flashy, and a bit different from what I normally see.

Depends on the club and where it's located. There are a lot of casual clubs here in LA, where everyone wears jeans and t-shirts, and then you have the ones where you need to pracically wear an Armani to get in.

Korean clubs are notorious for not letting guys who:
1. don't look Korean
2. don't look Taiwanese
3. don't wear anything from the likes of Versace, Gucci, Armani, Boss, etc.
And you have know your waiter, tip a lot, this way he'll "book" you lotsa chicks!

Well the people who wear shirts and jeans are there to have fun and like to dance in comfort. Personally i like cargo pants and some shirt whenever i go clubbing and raving. Its so much easier to dance with comfortable clothes. And also the clubs get very hot as the night goes on, wearing a suit in that type scenario just is not practical, but hey if you wanna look all flashy...by all means wear the suit. I just could never get it why a guy would wear a expensive suit to a club then having it smell like cigarette smoke and sweat. I think people that wear suits to clubs do so to compensate for his lack of dancing ability. Hey there is nothing better than a nicely dress bad dancer.
But remeber this girls always love a great dancer.

Heh. I suppose the rules are different in NYC than in most of the rest of the country. Here, if you can wear jeans into a club, it means (a) you know the doorman, the owner, the promoter, the hostess and the waitress, or (b) you're famous.
I know this is going to sound bad, but I've spent a lot of time around some of the most beautiful women in the world. The general consensus is that most things that guys think make them look cool...don't.
Don't wear anything silk. Don't wear tight muscle shirts. Under no circumstances should you wear those semi-see though shirts. Don't wear anything from Structure, unless you want to look like a contestant on Street Smarts.
The only guy I've ever seen pull off a suit in a club is Armand Assante. Usually, I just stick with a t-shirt or light sweater from a good label (e.g. double rl, dries van noten, barneys etc.) and dark pants that fall somewhere between formal and not (maybe black jeans). Shoes should not look like you wore them to work that day (i.e., no wingtips are not cool.)
Rule of thumb: if you look relaxed and comfortable, but not tacky, you'll be fine.
