Default The Club - use one? (the anti-theft device)

Anyone here use a "club" or similar device?

I lived in Brooklyn ages ago, and used all manner of anti-theft devices. I had the old style cable hood lock, the club, and the old devices that locked the wheel to the brake pedal. I think all of them made me feel better but no one ever stole the car (a nissan, most theft in the Bay Ridge area was joy-riding, not chops).

As I moved through different car models, I always used a club.

Do you?

Have you used other similar devices?

I've even used the big 2" diameter motorcycle cable lock from my H-D days (kryptonite, IIRC) to lock up a car by essentially chaining one front wheel to the suspension (I lived in a bad area in Houston for a while). Then I'd cover the car and run a standard cable under the car, adding another few seconds to a would-be theif's effort, unless he was snatching it with a tow.

Now that I have the S, I'm back to using a club, probably only for show, or peace of mind, as I assume if someone really wants it, they're getting it.

Any other non-electronic devices or methods you guys use?

I'm still using the club as well. It takes me 5 seconds to put it on and it stows away easily under the passenger seat behind the hump. I use the smaller openings of the wheel when it's straight so it makes it a bit harder for them to saw at it (but doing so damaged the button on the cruise control a bit). You can also use it as a weapon if need it comes down to it...

I used to use a Club. Then I saw a demonstration of how easy it was to remove by a pro. After that I just carried one to have a hand-to-hand weapon in the car that cops wouldn't bat an eye at. These days I just rely on a paging alarm (and bullets).

I used to run a club on my GTI, but haven't for probably 4 years. Don't think the MOMO steering wheel would hold up to a hack saw very well anyway.

The S has LoJack, and my 9mm is typically within arms reach.
