Default "That co-worker guy"

I've got this guy working with us who was transferred from another facility. He is an engineer, but claims to be a specialist in a certain area. However, when he talks, it's easy to tell that 95% of what comes out of his mouth is BS. Plus, these last two days he has been "helping" us with some issues, "help" that I did not ask for or want. He made it quite clear that he is a complete moron with little or no hands-on experience in the field in which he claims to have expertise. Plus, he just sent out this email about his findings which I had to correct and re-send. Then he comes and tells me that he was right and yada-yada, even though i already confirmed with the third party in this manner that he was not.

So, I'm trying to make it a personal goal to help this guy trip up on his own stupidity. I'm not going to set him up, lie, or cheat him in any way. I'm just waiting for him to make the mistakes and watching as his little world falls down.

Anybody have similar experiences?

I would have done the same thing, though if his work does not concern you, I would leave it alone.

Just remember that if you can't spot "that co-worker guy" in your office within 30 seconds, then you are "that co-worker guy".

Just document what you find, and save it for focal reviews.

I work with a guy like that. I don't try to set-up or sabotage him either. I always say give 'em enough rope and they'll hang themselves. This guy sure needs alot of rope though.

Man, I sure wish our spell checker worked.

Of course that wouldn't have helped, would it?
