Well first off I have started to get a little more into the anime scene and figure its time to get myself some at home backups for all my new favorite shows.

I would like to start off just getting a few show series, cowboy bebop the first off and then branching out after i get a least a inkling of what I want to start looking into.

The big question is, they make both collector series and standard DVD disks. I like to watch the extra little stuff and on cowboy bebop would like the CD collection of jazz that comes with the packaging but on amazon it's ~350 bucks while the complete DVD set is approx 150 buck. Is it worth it down the line to have the collectors box and extra stuff or am I better off in the beging with just the episodes and then bracnhing out.

Also with the larger animation houses when I get the DVD's are the resolution kicked up to dvd levels our are they simply broadcast quality DVD's

Any help would be great.

Also any animation sites that would be the best to buy from our that might be local to san diego that I can support.

Well I am getting depressed. I tell my little brother to keep a eye out for the box set when he goes to the mall hoping for the best.

then he stuns me. I know where one is right now. Found a early set ~1000 of the 9000 sitting in the neighborhood warehouse. It had been on the shelf since 99 been marked down like 5 times. Got it for 150 bucks. It made my I have watched the first 3 of 6 disks and well now my brother two friends and my girl will be snagging the set from me when I am done. I just dont have the strenght to tell them they need to find there own copy, last time I lent out a major DVD set it came back scratched and it wil never happen agian.

Also for shits and giggles I hooked up the DVD to the big screen and the stereo finnaly. So now surround sound Cowboy bebop on a 70 inch TV in 540 line resolution. Life is good life is real good. And on that note I am off to see star wars will write a review when I get back

 

Nice going Storm Cowboy Bebop is definitely a quality anime.

 

Also, look for Samurai X (it's a longer title, something japanese I can't remember, but Samurai X was in it) good quality

I got about 200+ movies at home (anime) and these are the best! Cowboy bebop, all those episodes are actually tied together! get them all and find out! Interesting storyline!

 

I got the box set so I have them all. I have been watching them in order for some time now. I have seen about 1/2 the episodes on TV and now they make since from a time line standpoint. Technically the final episodes are much better then the early stuff, the "Pitete Le Mas" is stunning. I can tell whats comming later on and I don't like it. I expected more syndicate based shows, but I would imagine that the wholer red eye thing would get boring after some time.

ninja scroll is the next one I will be buying.

I think a few of the more important movies and then who knows.

I really don;t like the Tenchi studd thats on TV. I realize the OAV is different but it just seems to slow to watch the whole thing.

Sometimes I'll buy the special edition, sometimes I won't. It depends on the features and the difference in price. When I purchase Evangelion, Bebop, and Lain there wasn't a box set availible so I had to get each disc individually. If the box sets where availible at the time, I probably would have got them.. Bebop is a really good series. That is a good one to start with. Since you're asking this question on an s2000 board, you must be into cars, so you should order Initial D. The first stage box set will be about $100-120. Also look at Rurouni Kenshin, which is the series that the Samauri X series spawned from.
