Why not just scrap the DVD Rom drive? The DVDR will play DVDs the same as the DVDrom....I'm sure your not going to be trying to burn a DVD and play one at the same time anyway....

VTEC Junkie, thanks for your help. THats exactly what I needed.

Yes, I need a DVD drive and a DVDR so I can have the ability to copy DVDs.

Any suggestions on a good ATA 133 card???

You don't need a ATA133 card for a CD-ROM since most run at Ultra DMA 2.

You can find them dirt cheap on eBay. I've got a Maxtor ATA100 card I could't give away if I tried.

you're right. an ATA133 is probably not necessary, but just in case he decides to add other devices to the card, the greater the bandwidth, the better.

btw, why don't you donate your maxtor ata100 card to nfrs2000nyc?? heck, if you really don't mind giving it away, i'll take it. i'm currently using an ATA66 for my DVD-Rom cuz that's all i had lying around...

i don't think they really make that much of a difference. just buy the one that's available and/or the one that is priced to your budget.
