Default Creative block..

hmm.. for the past couple weeks I've been having more trouble than normal with my creativity. I mostly think I just need some sorta boost or a vacation to get rid of this monotonous feeling. I'm a designer by the way so my job sorta depends on me being creative thats why its bugging me so much. Any other creative people have ideas on how they clear their minds or just anything to get away or suggestions?

Have you tried going to an art festival near you? I've just been to another local art festival last weekend. Every time I go there, it gives me mixed feeling. The joy and excitement to see all these arts and creative people...followed by the realization of how far I've strayed away from that to become a "slave" to a corporate America just to pay my bills .

Interestingly, some of the artists I met there were also former "slaves ." Maybe one day.

I havn't been to any art festivals.. I think that is a good idea though. Maybe I should go walk around an art museum too on the same notion. hmmm

I lose my creativeness with music from time to time, I usally take a few days off, then pop in a CD or two of what I feel are some of the most creative things ever done in music, get inspired, and get back at it better then I had in weeks.

Works fo me

Museum is good. But I prefer the loose atmosphere of "fest" better. You can actually talk and ask questions to the artists and most of them are very willing to tell you what inspires them and how the hack they came up with all those crazy ideas! I would do both .

Just get more culture in general. Go to college plays, musicals, browse music videos, go on a drive to odd parts of town, peruse odd mags in genres you might not normally pick up, like clubbing mags or Art News, and eat spicey food. Oh, and take a pad and pen with you.

wow.. those are some great ideas that I guess seem to get lost in the routine of daily life. I work right next to Vanderbilt.. I bet they have tons of good plays or etc. The odd parts of town might get me hurt though.. oh yea and spicey food..

I think ever since my digital camera got stolen I havn't been out as much doing photography either... I might have to bust out the ol 35mm Nikon and go buy actual film... or use up some of my Ilford BW I have left.
