Default Cruises

Need some help, my girlfriend and I are going on our first cruise, it's our 3 year anniversary and her 24th birthday.

We live in Dallas and only want to depart from the Galveston port.

Would like to cruise to Cozumel, Jamaica and Cayman Islands.

Really looking for websites where I could get great deals, so far I've tried travelocity and hotwire and they are over a $1,000 each for August.

Also when is hurricane season?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

I have been on that cruise 2x out of Galveston. Never had any rain/hurricane problems. I was always just paying for 1 person but I dont recall ever paying more than about $500, although my tab was over $1000 after booze and excursions

Travelzoo. Sign up for their weekly (Wednesday) email where you get 20 great deals. It's legit, my mother became licensed as a travel agent to support her (traveling) habit...and she uses it.

Go on one of the lesser expensive cruise lines. If you go super fancy, the ship will be filled with older folks and we all know they are no fun. Make sure to go tanning on the adult level. It's like a strip club with no pole.

Princess and Royal Caribbean should be your only options

The only one's available so far have been Royal Caribbean and Carnival. I've heard Princess is good, but it's not going out of Galveston.

As far as travelzoo, I'm on the fence wether to hold off for a better deal in their weekly updates and may have to pay a higher fare at the last moment or go ahead and book the ticket.

It just sucks that the $500 fare is now $1,000 so would really like to keep it as close to $500 if possible, heck even $700.

I like the sound of the adult level, possibly when the gf is asleep

Thanks for all the advice so far, signing up at travelzoo now.

I'm sure you already know this, but you can usually get deals when you book the cruise really far in advance (1 year), or really close to when it departs (1-2 weeks).

Hurricane season runs from June to November. Peak is August and September.

There's an old saying:
cruises are for the newly wed, the over-fed and the nearly dead. Which one are you?
I went on a cruise one time and hated it. Different strokes, I guess...
