Oh man, do I feel bad for that guy.

I was really relieved to see security escort him out of the game.

Can you imagine the beating he's going to take for the rest of his life if Kerry doesn't get the W today?

I don't like baseball and I don't generally follow it but when I heard about this I was PISSED. So unfair to them. They haven't been to the World Series in forever (even a non-fan like me knows that )

I really hope they can win in game 7... if they don't that guy will probably be murdered.

It's still only one play. They should have made the plays afterwards when needed. The SS still bobbled an easily played ground ball. The pitching still sucked after Prior left.

So that we're all clear... technically there was nothing to be pissed about.

While Alou might have made that catch for another out, the ball was in the stands. As such, the fan had every right to get the ball.

However, if it were me, despite what Bobby V. and the boys at ESPN are saying, I would have been pushing people away from that ball if I were in the stands and I'm not even a real Cubs fan. True baseball fans don't ever want to interfere with play.

Moreover, as Dan stated above, there's a lot more to this story.

Prior made some bad pitches. Gonzalez booted a routine play. Hell, I'd even question Dusty. I mean when the Cubs are up something like 10 to 2 in game 2, why leave Prior in for 100+ pitches. One could reason whether Prior's arm was tired and he didn't seem to have it in the later innings of that game. I wonder how much better off the Cubs would have been if they had a more rested Prior in last nights game.

But that's all would have, could have or should have.

Chicago blew it last night.

But its baseball and anything can happen. What they need to do is not make this the Buckner boot of the '86 world series and then blow game 7 as well.

He reached over and interfered with Alou, who was going up for a catch that would have been an out. Since they didnt get that out then, the next play the SS bobbled the ball which put their runners in scoring position.

My personal opinion is that this one play got into Prior's head, and things began to unravel for the team as a whole after the fact.

I'd like to think that if Alou made that catch, the score would have stayed at 3-2 in favor of the Cubs...Marlin's steam would have been let out with the 'over the wall' foul out catch, and the next batter would have been out with three strikes....but hey, that's my take on 'would'ves and could'ves'.

BTW, more info about the "fan" here:
