Damn it! I screwed up on a phone interview
i was being interviewed for a DB admin job, and not having touched the SQL Server for the past 8 months, i couldn't remember half the stuff she asked!
i screwed up
maybe i need to run a SQL server in my house just so i can brush up on the skills.

Try doing a "practice" interview over the phone with a friend that knows the kind of DBA questions that will be asked during a technical interview. It's a good way to "brush up" on your skills and get into the right frame of mind for the real thing.
I've done this several times when I've "been away" for a few months and it helped me a lot. Good luck.

I am a Tivoli consultant (IBM Software). I have a laptop with a Win2000 partition for all my work stuff and an NT Server partition so I can run the software. It's a great setup, I have 4 Oracle databases running with 10-12 Tivoli products. It's a bit slow if I run everything at once, but it's an invaluable tool for learning and staying sharp. Also a great way to show clients how things work.
Here's one for you, mingster. You probably didn't do this badly.
Question: "How much experience do you have with Unix?"
Answer: "I don't know much about eunuchs, but I know I don't want to be one"
