Same here. I quit last November so it has ben 8-9 months although most of my friends smoke so it makes me want one really bad from time to time. Specially being unemployed right now and being stuck in my shitty, boring town does not help either. I hope this goes away, I do not want to start all over again.

Sometimes the cravings try to never go away. You can beat it. After this long why get back into the habit.

Good Luck

After this long, it ain't the cigarettes you're craving, it's the satisfaction you associate with them. Find something that satisfies you and do that instead. It will have the same effect.

BTW, one satisfying thing to do is add up how much money you've saved in those eight months.

I'm not so sure about that, or that it can be summed up so easily. Substance addiction can be very powerful and each person is different... it took me well over a year before I got over it. I quit after about 50 failed attempts before there were any nicotine substitutes (gum, patches, etc.) available and it was very difficult.

Hang in there and know that turning back will just make it worse next time. Although this is a simple exercise in self control for some I know it is a huge struggle of withdrawal for others.

Good luck. It is great to be free in the end.

Hey Richard - hang in there guy. I'm a damned poster child for the dumb butts who finally get the guts to quit and then start back up.

No stuff - quit for 13 flippin' years and got into a stressful situation (involving booze, a great blues concert, and a hot woman, of course) and decided to have "just one". Yeah, right.

Now I'm right back where I started so long ago. Been puffin' away now for almost two years. Have finally worked up the courage to try again. Target date is the last of this month and I've set up a number of big time barriers to backsliding.

Wish me luck guy and more power to ya.

Jack

Richard, I know what you are going through. Quiting was the hardest thing I have ever done. It took me almost 2 years to finally get over the craving. I would chew gum, eat a lifesaver, anything to take my mind off the cigarettes. It was worth it. I now can't stand to be around cigarette smoke. It makes me sick and burns my eyes. I haven't smoked in 17 years and my health is excellent.
Just hang in there. It will get better. Good luck.
