Dealing with .com Insurance companies...
Anyone have any experience dealing with auto insurance that you got over the net, as in claims?? Just checking into it before I go to buying it that way.
No, but there are certain things that I would not purchase off the internet. One is groceries, the other is insurance.
If something happens, I would prefer to deal with my local insurance agent one on one then some random guy in a call center in no where land.

online insurance quotes are a joke. from what i see they are sooooooo much more higher than an actual quote you get from an agent.
esurance is growing on me but i still wouldn't trust a computer quote over one an actual agent gives you.

I've had progressive for a while. At first, I wanted to speak to a real agent thinking I would get a better price than online. They gave me the exact same price their internet site gave me. Now I don't even like dealing with an agent. I can change my policy around easily online with no problems.
With insurance companies it is becoming increasingly the rule..you get what you pay for.
You can buy .com stuff but your going to talk to someone in Bangledesh or some other outsourced person.
Of course Im an Allstate Agent so what do I know...

IMO, the .com companies are all about signing you up and collecting your cash. Also, while they have speedy claim resolution, that isn't always a good thing.
USAA has got my back. I wouldn't feel confident saying that about any other insurer.

Independent agents are probalby the best bet. They can shop for the best rate, are familiar with numerous companies and programs, and are there when you have a claim. Dealing directly with a company isn't always the best option. An independent agent can leverage their business to get a satisfactory resolution with their client, whereas a State Farm agent, for example, isn't going to stop selling State Farm if a customer is unhappy.
You get what you pay for, but many times, an independent agent can get you far more for your money than a .com policy or a single-carrier agent.
