Denial, it's more than a river in Egypt...
Unbelieveable...on the way to the office this morning, I heard the rather amusing proclamations of the father of Jihad Johnny...claiming that his son (as well as himself) "loves America." And that he never did anything to "harm Americans."
Yea, except for joining an international terrorist ring hellbent on destroying America, his son did nothing wrong.

His mother also get a few words in about how much she loves her son and how he could never do anything wrong...I think she also said that Jihad Johnny also loves her. I guess it's the family that plays together, let's their 16 year old son go to a region known for hostility against, well, against most of the rest of the world, but certainly the US and stays together.
I can't imagine what utter self-deception these people must be under to say these kinds of things...but I also can't imagine being in their position. I have an image of the parents at a cocktail party, sipping martinis, schmoozing...then someone coming up to them, "So, we haven't seen John in a while, how is he doing?"
What could you possibly say? "Well, our son has joined an international terrorist ring and is in cahoots with a group that has declared war on America...we're so proud of him!"
What a freaking joke...
And this was topped off, to my simplisitic legal mind that still doesn't understand how OJ is a free man, by this clown of a attorney claiming that the attorney/client privilege was broken since Jihad Johnny didn't have counsel for 53 days. Ummm, counselor, your client was in a the middle of a war zone...hello!?
What a joke...I hope this guy fries. I bet he'll last about 9 minutes in prison.
Yea, I'm feeling charitible tonight, how could you tell?

Wonder if he thinks good ole' mom should be subjected to the acid face wash for daring to walk around without a burka (sp?) cloaking her evilness.
Personally, I think they ought to let little johnny escape into lower manhatten followed by a highly publicized manhunt....or release him into the general prison population for a warm homecoming.

Greg,
A little harsh, but they could have stopped him from leaving if they really want to.
I figure they will just put him in federal prison, and let the inmates finish him off.
Is that not true justice.
Remember Jeffery Dahmer - He didn't last long.
Ahh - My post for his new friend Bubba, and their bunk together

Okay, well I am sure I will get HUGELY flamed for this, but anyway.......
He went to join the Taliban didn't he? The regime that was ruling the country (regardless of whether we agree with their ways or not).
The Taliban DID NOT attack the US or any other country, it was the Al Quieda (sp??) that have been blammed for that attack. YES the Taliban leaders protected them, YES the Taliban leaders were probably aware of what was happening, YES the US did the right thing by assisting in the overthrow of the Taliban, YES the war on terrorism is a good thing.
But with respect to "Johnny Taliban", the US invaded Afghanistan, he did not choose to fight the US, the US chose to fight the regime that he was living within.
Please do not think that I in any way condone his actions or those of the Taliban or Al Quieda, I just think that there needs to be a little more balance in the way that some of the things that have happened are reported and dealt with........
(I am sure that I should have kept my head down on this one, but did feel that something should be said - sorry)

Leno had a great idea last night about the prisoners we are holding...let the women who they treated so well take care of them - sans Burkas and all...
...and I'm sick of the bleeding heart liberals who say we are treating them poorly. It would have been a lot cheaper to have shot them on sight...
...and to think I used to be a bleeding heart liberal...
