Did anyone ever think of entering the Gumball rally?

forget that , let's do Texas to Vegas and back...

either my Camaro, or if pop's will allow, the E55, 575M, or 10sec 300ZX TT

friends from UTI have already agreed, as soon as we graduate (we get no summer break, not even a spring break)... who can keep up?

After the gumballers came through Vegasm my friend and I highly entertained doing the next one and being the 1st s2k in it. But niether of us are old enough and then we found out the entry fee and decided maybe if we start saving now we'll have enough extra cash to run it by the time we turn 21.

You will be trying to keep up with me, Alex. I have set all sorts of distance and speed records among my friends....so let me know if you guys wanna schedule a run...I will bring down one of the NSX's and make it interesting. You in?

whoa not bad. we took alot more then that going in our excursion to colorado i say we took over 18 hours on the road counting stops, except when my dad had to stop to sleep he didnt want to drive at night..

but of course you know it takes alot more when you are with a family...we were avg around 90mph and we got pulled over as well for failure to indicate turn change in wichita ..the cops there sucked..

Yeah, I have run lots of speed things that I am just thankful I stayed out of jail for....

1.) I ran between 130-140 mph for about 110 miles straight with my brother in my '91 NSX. It was almost 1 a.m. and we were leaving Indianapolis to come home to Fort Wayne (110 miles away) and I decided to go for it. He was sleeping, so I punched it leaving Indy and about 15 minutes into the trip he wakes up and sees the speedometer needle at 140 mph and casually says, 'What are you doing,' and I tell him, 'Driving home'. He shrugged his shoulders and just relaxed and drifted in and out of consciousness for the remainder of the trip except the last 15 minutes or so when he was awake again. We have had a rivalry going for several years to see who could make the trip the fastest....I won.

2.) We drove from West Palm Beach to Fort Wayne, Indiana ina Land Rover Defender 90 bouncing the needle off of the speed limiter the ENTIRE TRIP!! (1,400 or so miles).

3.) Blasting home to Indiana from Texas in my new M3 averaging around 95 mph (with stops for myself and my mother) for the total trip distance and time. My Mom even got pulled over for going 110+ over a hill in Indiana. LOL!

An s2k would be the worst possible choice. Its a high revving, relatively low powered car, compared to the other cars. 90% of the time, youre flat out on the highway. I'd pick a new high performance Benz (with the speed limiter removed) for that kind of stuff, if not something italian.

Just found out last week that a friend of mine (much older guy than me) will be shipping his diablo to Europe for next years rally. I did my best to talk him out of it, but he doesnt give two shits about the money or the car, he just wants to go.
