Do any people here keep reef aquariums as a hobby?
I used to have a 90 gallon reef tank.. it was a fun experience, but I started with out a goal in mind.. soon I had anemonies (sp?) in there with my live rock, some clown fish... tons of polyps.. a shrimp.. tons of crabs.. snails.. it was fun.
I was going to get a larger one recentlybut I live ont he second floor of a condo and no one was willing to carry it up the stairs.. heh heh
I don't have the 90 gallon anymore, I sold it when I had to move..

I have had a 100 gallon tank for three years now. Its been an up an down experience. I have several tangs, wrasses, a clown a damsel and a bicolor blenny. I also have several corals. I have been very succesfull keeping fish and moderately successful keeping corals.
The funny thing is I have a intermittent but pretty bad green algae problem but for the past year my corals have been thriving.
I'm on the sixth floor. Thank god we have an elevator. It was bad enough moving the fish, corals, 50 gal. water 200lbs live rock plus hardware without having to carry it up stairs.

i have a 30 gallon and it has been fine. it is mainly a clown tank, but i do have a firefish, cause they just look damn cool.
I would suggest you start out slow, and not introduce anything in the tank too quickly, remember, this is an expensive hobbie, and if you are like my friend, whom i purchased this setup from, you can spend thousands and have the entire tank go under.
I had this current setup for about two years, and basically, i just fill the water that evaporates. i hardly check for ph, or salt level. i barely clean the tank. Everything is working like it should.. so i am happy. i don't have that much coral but that is just a pain to start monitoring everything...
i wish you luck....
