Agreed... I skip Off Topic a lot of times because of this, and now the cesspool is spreading to other forums as well with the insipid "that sucks" and "LOL" posts...

After 39 views and only 12 votes, the dangling chads are winning.

post whoring doesnt' bother me, cuz you can avoid those threads quite easily. however, you would have to be pretty bored to post for the purpose of increasing post counts

I don't see anything wrong with it. All it shows is that people are paying attention to what others are writing and giving them a little support. I think it's great to see all the responses.

Some may be trying to get into higher gears, but others may be just interseted in the conversation. I couldn't even tell you what gear I'm in without looking at it.

Some of those frequently posting members actually contribute to this board quite a bit, IMO.
I wouldn't say that a member should only be judged by his/her post per day rate .

It's not so much quantity of posts as it is quality. A "me too" here and there is one thing, but constant inane drivel and insults earn people a spot on the good 'ole ignore list. And then someone else quotes them. There is no escape.

Well, Off-Topic was created for some post wh*ring. I jsut don't like it when a perfectly good thread is destroyed by some of the dumb remarks later on.

I agree. Seems like the NO is winning.
