Default Do you cheat?

I have to admit, my personal pet peeve is before buying a game, I must check and see if there are cheats for this game. If there are none, I wouldn't buy it. Some of my friends feel that cheating in a game takes away the excitement of the games, but for me, a game is used to take my mind off the real world, and I don't need to pay to get frustrated. Besides, cheating in games have no direct consequences to your life - as opposed to cheating on your taxes in real life

If you end up ripping the controller out of the box more than 3 times, then it's time for the cheats

Define cheat.

On certain games, I do like having access to a strategy guide. It helps for games like Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy to help understand what I need to do on missions and so that I don't miss anything. I use them just like I used to use Cliffs Notes. I'd read a book, but I didn't always "get it." Cliffs Notes helped me make sense of what I was reading and the message behind it. I treat strategy guides for video games the same way.

I don't like to use codes in games. I don't think it's wrong, I just don't like to do it.

Walkthrough and guide books aren't cheats.

"GOD"
"GIVE ALL"
"NOCLIP"
"NOTARGET"

and stuff like that are cheats

Ok. I will admit to using codes like that in the past with games like Doom.

Sometimes after a bad day I just want to search and destroy without getting "killed."

sometimes i do if I'm stuck; i'll read the guide at best buy (teehee) or put in a code.

now, cheating in multiplayer is just plain sick. it ruins it for everyone else (unless you tell everyone you're cheating and they do, too).

In single player, I try to play the game once through without cheating but I will cheat if I'm absolutely stuck and about to throw my XBox/PS2 out the window. So much for those anger management classes!

Online, I never cheat. It ruins it for everyone else and makes others cheat so they can be even.

I don't much play video games anymore. But when I did I didn't have a problem using codes. I figured that I payed for the whole game so I want to see the whole game.

I did use a bot once to bump some skills in a MMOG. I felt dirty afterwards. Then I got over it when a 14y/o punk would steal my camp and there wasn't anything I could do about it.
