I'm still a bit confused when it comes to the cleaning though. Goldfish get real dirty so I guess I'll clean bi-weekly. So do I take 25% of water out from the tank and put them in a bucket, and then move all the fish into that bucket? After cleaning do I fill up with remaining 75% of the water in the tank with the new water or pour the old from the bucket?
hehe no, sorry. As said above, you fill a bucket with tap water and let it sit for a day or two to help remove chlorine. Then, remove 20-25% of the water from the tank, and pour in the water from he bucket. Adding stress coat is a good idea.

i have a 55gal saltwater with 2 count them 2 fishes - a yellow (really brown) tang and a maroon clownfish. i change the water maybe.. maybe every three months.

it call comes down to how many fish you have and how much waste they produce.

if you want less cleaning/work - get the biggest tank you can get and put in the least amount of fish.

a big tank gives you a lot of water volume which minimizes the flucuations of everything you mentioned that you have to keep an eye on such as pH, water hardness, levels of nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia.

i usually do 25-30% water changes on my 75 gallon cichlid tank. i siphon for poopoo and water. then i refill the tank with new water, add seachem's Prime dechlorinator and go on my way.

Goldfish are really good at growing to their environment. Better to err on the safe side and have fewer fish in too much tank. For 5 years I had 3 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank and they stayed healthy and fairly small. We dug some ponds in the backyard and put the house fish in there and lo and behold, they grew to more than 3 times their previous size and looked like little coy.
