I can't wait 'till the next winter Olympics. I hear the Jamaicans are putting together a snowboarding team. I can see the movie now. "Cool Air"?

The winter olympics are becoming a bizarre version of the X-Games with useless, ignorant commentators, incompetent judges, qualitative events (e.g., snowboarding, ice skating, etc.) and the weirdest part is the Moulin Rouge-esque Oscar-like dance routines and half-assed celebrity performances. The medal ceremony is like a Donny Osmond concert.

The only thing I like about the Olympics is the security "show of force."

I love following the sports, but for some reason the media thinks I want to follow the athletes' struggles to get to the olympics

I WANT TO WATCH THE SPORTS!!!!! There are so many cool things we miss out on

I truly respect the atheletes who compete at this level. I love watching the sports...all of them...especially the "go fast" sports, and there are quite a few in thge Winter Olympics. the part I do not like is the coverae on NBC cuits off way too much stuff! Hell, if I wanted to watch highlights, I can just watch ESPN. A little human interest story is ok, but its like every 15 minutes they have another one.

Oh well, anyway to tap into Canadian coverage?

Don't they usually follow the Olympics with the World Championships - of just about every sport that was in the Olympics? You'll see the same people, except they'll be performing in a different country. Now that is really dumb scheduling in my opinion.

And does anyone else in the world really care who won the Halfpipe? What a lame sport (with very little real following in other countries). I suppose they included snowboarding to help boost the American medal count. Oh well. I'm just hoping they'll include snow golf in the next Olympics.

I agree with Sunchild here (which is quite unusual ) there are too many qualitative "sports" included these days.... it's becoming like syncronised swimming in the summer olympics
