Default Do you own an airplane?

Just curious, a buddy has one at work and I toyed with the idea of getting one instead of the S, but opted for the S instead. Thought I would get more use out of it..................

Does anyone on the board own a plane (that can carry humans)?

The Athanor Environmental corporate jet is a Rockwell Saberliner. I added a heat-seeking air-to-air missile capability so I wouldn't have to worry about general avaition air rage. (I have air superiority.)

Gliders are far more interesting. With power planes, you just have to keep the engine running. With sailplanes, it is your skill that keeps you in the air. Plus, wench launching is about as close to being shot off the bow of a carrier as private pilots can get.

And it is so quiet.

I was up for two hours yesterday. Got into a thermal with a flock of buzzards and rode it up to cloudbase at 4600ft. Then skimmed along the bottom of a cloud street at 70 knots with zero sink for a good 10 miles.

San Diego has several excellent soaring spots nearby...Warner Springs, Hemet, Lake Elsinore.

Give it a try...
