Default Do you smoke cigarettes? And if so, how many a day

I decided to post a poll after making an observation at work. I swear everyday, somebody is "bumming" a cigarette from a fellow smoker. I know cigarettes are not cheap and it amazes me how powerful the addiction can be. It seems that if some of these people don't get their "smoke break", they lose their mind. If they are out of cigarettes, some don't hesitate to beg for one.

So are you a smoker? If so, how many on average do you smoke a day and are you currently making an effort to quit? As for me, I don't smoke. Many of my friends and both my parents smoke. The smell of their house and the interiors of their cars attest to that fact. My father has also over the years developed a really nasty cough that has pretty much turned me off to cigarettes for life.

I gave up smoking about a year ago after 14 years. I expected it to be a painful process, but once I told myself I was quitting it was surprisingly easy. What WAS difficult though is replacing it with something else that isn't bad for you. I made a mistake of taking on alcohol and Cuban cigars. I know I should have gone for the gym membership, but really, I couldn't bear the thought of physical exercise. So my laziness has cost me thousands of dollars wasted away on other supposedly not-so-fatal hobbies.

I think I need to start buying parts for the s2000 to get me away from liquor/cigars now. It would certainly be cheaper!!

I used to smoke, probably about 15 a day normally, but well over a pack if I went out drinking in the evening, I gave up 3 months ago ..... and I must say, that I have found it relatively easy to stop so far. I guess that is because I decided that I really didn't want to smoke.

It never bothered me if I people wanted to bum cigarettes off me, but I guess that's because in Japan they were pretty cheap and so I didn't really care.

I smoked over a pack a day for 7 years. I quit November of 2003 cold turkey and haven't had one since! Now smoking grosses me out, I can't even be around it!

I smoked regularly for about 5 years, then quit entirely for 4 years, and just started again recently. I currently smoke maybe 3-4 cigarettes a day and am not trying to quit.
